I was looking through some cards I had submitted for magazines that were not chosen and came across this one. Since Moxie Fab World is hosting the Glitter is Glam challenge, I thought I'd throw this one in too. I used glitter on the Grungeboard swirl. I also used clear embossing for the chandeliers in the background and it gives them a bit of a shine, and some of the background paper is a bit glittery.

Happy New Year!
Over at the CREATE: Blog you can find information of all kinds. Since the new year is just around the corner, click on over to CREATE: and see what they have to share. I try to enter as many of the CARDS challenges that I can, so take a look and see if I made it for this week's challenge of New Year's cards. Here are two cards I made for that challenge. I love the retro one with the guy and girl. I found an old set of clip-art disks I had laying around and decided to play around with them. Keep checking back here for more clip-art inspired cards.

Glitter is GLAM!
Moxie Fab World is hosting another challenge called Glitter is Glam. I'm not much of a glitter-er, so this truly was a challenge for me. I ended up making this sparkly tree holiday card. I embossed the trees using Versamark pad and embossing glitter. I ripped the white "snow" paper and dipped the edge in Versamark and embossing glitter as well. The green paper is also a bit sparkly because it is pearlescent. I also used some sheer white ribbon and a glittery snowflake button to top it all off.

Waltzingmouse Tag Challenge
So, I'm running a little behind on this one, and seeing that the tag challenge over at Waltzingmouse closes in about 10 minutes, I'm not writing much. I created MANY tags for a stamp camp I held last month, so decided to put some on here for the challenge.

Diggin' On Damask Challenge at Moxie Fab World
Moxie Fab World is hosting a damask challenge, but hurry if you want to enter because time is running out! I actually made this card last weekend, but haven't had much time to get it posted. I used a different color combination than you might often see for a Christmas card, but I thought it turned out really cool. I stamped the damask background in yellow, then added the hot pink mini snowflakes to the pattern.

It's a Boy!
I am going to be a grandma again on or about March 30th and I found out on Monday that Katie will be having a boy! It's pretty exciting because we already have sweet Ashlin, and now there will be a new baby boy to add to our family. I helped pick Ashlin's name, so now I'm on the hunt for some good boy's names for Katie and Justin. So, in celebration of the news, here's some cards I made several months back:

It's the most wonderful time of the year...well, almost!
The days are getting shorter and the nights are definitely getting cooler around here in Washington state, but that doesn't keep me from crafting, in fact, it probably keeps me inside more. My granddaughter turned 2 a couple weeks ago and on Monday, I get to find out the sex of my newest grandbaby that's due March 30th...how exciting! (my guess is it's another girl, but it's purely a guess!)
In preparation for that most wonderful time of year that is soon approaching, I made this card for the Embellish Magazine Challenge. Here's also a photo of the color inspiration:

Halloween Tag Treat Bag
CARDS Create Blog is hosting another challenge. This week, the challenge is all about Halloween tags. I used one of my Sizzix dies to cut two tags from orange felt. Then I stamped the sentiment and images on the felt using StazOn black ink. I attached purple gems to the cute little spiders, then stitched around the two tags using black embroidery floss. I tucked a piece of candy inside and tied the treat bag closed using sheer ribbon and a spider embellishment.

Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger: A Funky Fall
I absolutely love the colors in Moxie's Tuesday Trigger this go around.
The bright oranges, greens and purples make for a great card crafting pallette. I used stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink (the Beetle Bug and ticket are two of my favorites!) along with the coordinating stamp sets to make my card. Fall is one of my favorite seasons and where I live, the trees are just starting to turn.

The Colors of Fall
Today was a fun day for the family. We went to one of our local parks where they have a glorious display of roses in their rose garden and there is a Japanese garden area with a koi pond. The fall colors were beautiful and the weather was on the mild side until the rain began to fall. Here are some of the photos we took on our adventure.

Autumn is HERE!
I don't know about the rest of you, but the weather here in Spokane went from warm, sunny days to rainy, cool weather. I think we'll have snow by Halloween again this year...bummer! Anyway, over at StampTV, Gina K. is hosting the Favorite Fall Memory Design Team Challenge.
One of my favorite fall memories is going to Greenbluff, which is an area where quite a bit of local farms are located. We go up as a family and get peaches, apples, pumpkins and other fruits and veggies, and enjoy the local festivities like corn mazes, arts & crafts vendors, live local music and yummy eats made by the farms. The kids like going through the pumpkin patches to get their very own pumpkin and my hubby and I enjoy the fresh pies and fruit samples. The hay ride is a family favorite as well. This year, we will be taking our 2 year old granddaughter to Greenbluff for the first time. I am excited to see what she does in the pumpkin patch!
Another memory that comes to mind for this time of year is the county fair. The fair here in Spokane actually ends today, and although we didn't make it as a family this year, we still have memories. My step-son is in 4-H and shows sheep at the county fair in his county and my hubby was able to go down to see him do the fitting and showing portion.
Here's the card I made to depict the fall memories I mentioned here. There's plenty of fruit and the red and white gingham ribbon on the side of the label reminds me of a ribbon like the ones that get awarded at the fair.

Sweet Baby Elly!
So, one of my staff became a grandma for the first time to a sweet baby girl. I became a grandma for the first time almost 2 years ago (and my daughter's got another due in March!) and I remember that feeling when I held my little sweetie Ashlin for the first time. She's a toddler now and she's quite the character (see photos below). Anyway, I made this elephant card for the gal at work for a little shower we held for her today.

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger
Time for another Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World. Things have been hectic around here lately, but I managed to steal enough time last night to make this card. The colors in the Tuesday Trigger photo were my inspiration. I used the new set Falling Leaves from Papertrey Ink as the tree's trunk and the sentiment is also from PTI from their Enjoy the Ride stamp set. The felt flowers are die cut from a nesting flower die set. The flower pot is from a bag-o-buttons I bought at our new Hobby Lobby store, then I inked it and heat embossed with clear powder.

Busy, Busy, Busy!
That's right...I've been BUSY!!! I went back to work after my summer break and welcomed 2 new staff along with the other 11 full-time people I supervise. One of the sites I supervise was moved to another location in an elementary school this summer and this Thursday we FINALLY get to get into the classrooms to unpack. With only 2 weeks until school starts, it'll be a mad rush.
Next weekend, I am also holding my annual stamp/craft day for friends and family (and friends of family) to come and make some fall and winter projects. I've been really busy trying to figure out projects, order supplies and make samples. This week I'll be prepping everything AND making some goodies to share (banana bread, lemon muffins, etc), oh, and I can't forget the housework that needs to be done :)
Anywho, I actually have made a few things in the last few weeks and here are some of them (some were for magazine submissions that I'm waiting to hear back from, so you can't see those yet). I will be back later in the week (hopefully) to share some of the samples I made for this coming weekend.

Good Ole' Summertime!
Yesterday late afternoon and into the evening, my hubby and I attended a live outdoor concert in Liberty Lake Pavillion Park (3 miles down the road) featuring Big Head Todd & the Monsters (silly name but great band) and it was opened by Truth & Salvage Co. Both bands were GREAT and it was a lot of fun! The best part, is that it was totally free! Yep, you read it right...F-R-E-E! Big Head Todd has a new album out released last Tuesday and there's a top 40 song titled Beautiful that is just a fantastic melody. Anyway, it was about 95 degrees yesterday, so a touch warm in the open summer air, but as the sun set, it was a gorgeous evening and we both really enjoyed ourselves. I think here in a bit we are headed for a cruise to the lake in Coeur d' Alene...it's about 95 degrees today and getting hotter tomorrow!
Okay, on to a summery inspired card... I made this card in response to Cards Blog challenge to make a card with a kite on it.

Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger: Dancing Lanterns
The gals at Moxie Fab World are headed to CHA next week, so this week's Tuesday Trigger: Dancing Lanterns will be running for two weeks. So, I got this new cute little lantern stamp today at Michael's and decided to give the challenge a second try. I got the sweet sentiment today too. I stamped the lanterns on pretty DPs then cut them out and mounted some black thin wire to the backs. Here's my card:

Okay, Last One Tonight!
Here's yet another card I made last night, but this time for Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger: Dancing Lanterns. I took my inspiration from the colors, the globe shapes and the way the lanterns flow across the photo. The first photo is of the lantern inspiration and the second is my card.
More Cards and More Challenges...
I made a couple of cards yesterday for some other challenges I found online. The card in this post was made for the sketch challenge (see below for the original sketch) over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog and for a challenge over at Embellish Magazine Blog where the challenge was to create using the colors turquoise, brown, craft and orange.
Signs of Peace
Moxie Fab World is having another challenge, and this time it's all about using peace signs on your projects...just go to Moxie Fab World Challenge: Signs of Peace to see the wonderful items Cath has posted along with some great cards all highlighting peace signs. For my project, I decided to make a card for my youngest daughter (15 1/2) who just yesterday got her driver's permit. Since the peace sign is retro of sorts, I decided to try my hand at another retro item...shrinky-dinks! I made the peace signs and Beetle charm all from stamping on shrinky-dink plastic with my Staz-On black ink, then heated with my embossing gun while it shriveled and curled into these cute little charms!
Here's what it looks like:

Another Challenge...Another Shot at Shabby
PaperCrafts Connection is also helping people find their style this week, and part of it includes a challenge of Inspired Style. The inspiration for the challenge comes from an old typewriter. I don't have many vintage looking stamps, so instead I made a cute baby boy card using a typed background along with some other shabby-looking elements. Here's the finished product:
Last But Not Least...Classy & Elegant Style
The Classy & Elegant style is probably my least favorite, although I have been known to use it for weddings, anniversaries or sympathy cards. The card I made is very simple, but the use of metallic silver ink, red sheer ribbon and shimmery red cardstock helps make it more elegant.
